Andrea is a 200 Hour Yoga Alliance Certified Yoga Instructor in the Ashtanga Vinyasa style. She has been practicing many forms of yoga throughout the past 15 years, including Hatha, Bikram, Ashtanga, Restorative and Vinyasa Flow. She has a strong background in meditation & mindfulness having studied at our local, Tassajara Zen Mountain Center, in Carmel Valley, learning the Zen Buddhist way of life. Her education and experience is woven into all aspects of her training sessions.
Vinyasa Flow Yoga is a guided, one hour movement session focusing on traditional yoga postures for strength and alignment. Each session integrates stretches, the flow of movement between yoga postures, breath, and relaxation techniques to realign the body and strengthen both large and stabilizing muscle groups. Isometric exercises require focus and controlling the mind while holding each yoga pose. This is a great counter-training class for those who typically practice more explosive, cardio-based exercises. Good for the first timer or seasoned strength training veteran. Variations and adjustments are made for individuals needing modifications specific to his/her body.
Restorative Yoga is a relaxing flexibility session for individuals looking to rest and unwind. Throughout this session you will slow down to let your body rejuvenate through gentle stretching. Expect to use props such as straps, blocks, bolsters and blankets to support your body through these slow moving yoga postures. Much of this class is practiced seated on the floor and lying down on a yoga mat. A blend of relaxing breathing techniques are used to help calm and focus the mind that will leave you refreshed and ready to start a new week with a renewed sense of peace. This is the perfect class to introduce your body to the beneficial restorative effects of yoga.
